Aged wooden wine & juice vats or tanks are becoming increasingly scarce as modern methods require stainless steel tanks .... we work closely with vineyard experts to occasionally offer these valuable “tank grade” (clear, no knots, heavy to vertical grain) pieces when they become available ....species may include redwood, cypress, cedar, douglas fir and white oak in most instances the pieces have been sealed with beeswax thus preventing the wood from becoming stained .... thickness, width and length of the staves, tops and/or bottoms will vary depending on the original size of the tank ranging from 9 1/2’ to 20’ tall.
