Reclaimed Mushroom House Bedding Boards
Ever since the early 1900’s when commercial mushroom farming started in earnest here in the USA, the preferred wood of choice for use as bedding boards in mushroom houses has been cypress. Chosen primarily for proven natural resistance to insect habitation and to rot due to moisture, these hearty cypress boards have endured in a “hostile” environment for many decades. Exposed to the erosional effects alternately caused by compost bedding soil acids and sanitized steaming over the years, the face of these 1 x 8” boards now exhibit their own uniquely sculptured appearance.
Their “as is” brownish-grey coloration is perfect for interior applications. When used in exterior siding applications these boards will attain a silvery grey patina.
We offer these rustic cypress boards in random lengths from 8’ to 16’ in minimum units of 1,000 square feet per bundle. Trailer load quantities are available as well. All boards may have value added such as kiln drying and wirebrushing. Additionally, we would be happy to custom mill these boards into square sided or t&g flooring or wall paneling for you.
